SUPPORT / HOW TO

Mark a drive to work as Commute

Commute is a third answer beside Business and Personal. It is available in every country. What it changes depends on your country.

Commute is the drive between home and work

Choose Commute for the regular drive between your home and your workplace. DriveHub stores it as a Personal trip marked home–work, so a report treats it as Personal unless your country's rule says otherwise.

DriveHub does not decide for you which drives are commutes. A drive is not business just because it happened in working hours.

Give the answer from the trip itself

The Trip type control has three choices: Business, Personal and Commute. You see it when DriveHub asks about a trip and on any saved trip.

While a trip is still recording, the live panel in the app offers Business and Personal only. The Lock Screen and Dynamic Island card also offers Commute. Otherwise settle the home–work drives afterwards.

  1. A trip waiting for an answer: open Trips → For you → Need to check and tap Commute.
  2. A saved trip: open it and choose Commute in the Trip type control.
  3. The Trips list: swipe a trip to the left and tap Commute. Swipe it to the right for Business.
  4. A notification: when DriveHub asks about a trip, the notification offers Business, Personal and Commute.
  5. CarPlay: when you are parked, open the Trips tab and choose the type of today's trip.
  6. A trip you add by hand: Add a past trip offers Commute too.

Fix a month of past drives together

Trips you filed as Personal earlier can be changed in one go. Check the period and the Filter first. Changing either clears your selection.

  1. Open Review Trips as described in the bulk review guide.
  2. Tap Select and choose the home–work trips. Use Select All only after checking the Filter.
  3. Tap Commute in the bar at the bottom. Open one trip and check its type.

What Commute changes in your country

Netherlands: Commute kilometres count with your business kilometres for income tax (IB) and as private use for VAT (btw).

Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway: the commute cards in Reports use your Commute trips to fill in the annual commute deduction.

Everywhere else, a Commute drive is reported as Personal. Marking it does not make it deductible.

Correct an answer later

Open the trip, choose another answer in the Trip type control and check the result. A report you already saved keeps the old answer, so make a new one.

  1. Open the trip from the Trips list.
  2. Choose Business, Personal or Commute in the Trip type control.
  3. Make a fresh report for the period if you exported it before.
