SUPPORT / REPORTS

Set up the annual commute deduction

In Germany and Denmark the commute is a yearly deduction, not a rate per trip. DriveHub collects the days and distances in Reports once the calendar year is over.

Answer the commute question for the year

Settings shows Additional calculations only for countries and car uses that offer a question. Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway offer Annual commute deduction.

The answer only controls what Reports offers. It does not decide whether you may deduct anything.

  1. Open Settings → Country and check the country and How you use this car.
  2. Tap Additional calculations, choose the Year and find Annual commute deduction.
  3. Answer Yes to Do you travel between home and a regular workplace? Pick a car under Car to answer for one car only.

Mark your home–work drives as Commute

The card counts the trips you marked Commute. Until you mark some, it says Mark home–work trips or choose a car to set up commute tax days. Held trips do not count.

  1. Open Trips → For you → Need to check and choose Commute for the drive to work.
  2. For older trips, open the trip or use Review Trips to change many at once.

Check the days for each car

The deduction needs actual days and an entire calendar year. Open Reports, choose the full year and find the Commute tax deduction card.

The screen reminds you: count only days you actually travelled. Home working, leave and sick days are excluded. Each calendar day has one tax record, and a return trip is not another deduction day.

Germany uses one-way road kilometres. Denmark uses daily land kilometres and documented ferry or flight fares when needed.

  1. In Reports, choose the calendar year and open the Commute tax deduction card.
  2. Tap Review commute days for the car, then Set up commute year.
  3. Tap Add days from commute trips. Use Add a missing day for a day the log lacks.
  4. Open each day under Individual days and check the date, the First workplace and the Travel legs.
  5. Read the Annual result. Review the entries under Days to review.

Add the German annual figures

On the card, Set up German annual commute opens the yearly figures. DriveHub cannot know them from your trips: other allowances, public transport you paid yourself and the amounts on your employer's certificate (lines 17 and 18).

Enter 0 where nothing applies. The screen states that the €4,500 ceiling applies once to all transport other than an own or provided car. Employer amounts reduce the distance allowance.

Confirm that all German first-workplace routes are included, and that no commute day is counted both in the app and in your other amounts.

Choose the route type and add the supplement

For Denmark, each day has a Danish route type: Regular route, Ferry route or Scheduled flight route. The land kilometres are priced; a ferry or flight needs its documented fare.

The low-income supplement is a second step on the same card. Set up Danish annual income asks for your qualifying annual income and whether all Danish commute claims are included. The screen is called Extra deduction.

It says this is a tax deduction, not a tax refund. Confirm the final amount in your tax assessment.

What the card does not do

The card helps you assemble the figures. It does not establish that you qualify. If it says Commute deduction: insufficient data, open the days and the yearly screen and fill in what is missing.

Make a new report after any change. A file you already exported keeps the old figures.

The commute card shows no amount?

Tell us the country, the year and which line the card shows, for example insufficient data. You do not need to send addresses.
